As a peptide, semaglutide is sensitive to conditions that break amide bonds or modify side chains. Deamidation of asparagine and glutamine residues, oxidation of methionine and tryptophan, and non-covalent aggregation are the main degradation routes described in published stability work. Rate depends strongly on pH, buffer species, ionic strength, temperature and exposure to light. Formulators therefore choose a defined solution pH and often add excipients such as phosphate buffer, propylene glycol and phenol, each of which plays a separate role in pH control, tonicity or preservation.
Storage guidance for the finished injectable product distinguishes the unused state from the in-use state. Before first use, pens are kept refrigerated between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius, protected from light, and never frozen, since freezing can disrupt the peptide or the device. After first use, label instructions in several markets permit storage at room temperature up to about 30 degrees Celsius for a limited number of days. Solid research-grade material is normally held at or below minus 20 degrees Celsius, often with desiccant, and allowed to equilibrate before opening.

Identity and purity are usually assessed by reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. Retention time and observed mass are compared against a reference standard run under identical conditions. Impurity profiles reveal deamidation products, oxidized methionine variants, and truncated fragments that arise during synthesis or storage. Peptide mapping through enzymatic digestion confirms the primary sequence, while amino acid analysis offers an independent check on overall composition.
Stability studies examine how temperature, pH, and moisture influence degradation rates over time. In aqueous solution, hydrolysis and deamidation accelerate as pH moves away from mildly acidic conditions. Light exposure and residual metal ions can also trigger oxidation of susceptible residues. Accelerated aging at elevated temperature is used to estimate shelf life, though extrapolation to room temperature carries uncertainty because individual degradation pathways do not always scale predictably.
Lyophilised semaglutide is generally held at -20 °C or below, protected from light and moisture. Reconstituted solutions are typically kept at 2-8 °C and used within a defined window because degradation accumulates over time. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles are discouraged, since each cycle can promote aggregation and reduce monomeric content. Room-temperature stability of the solid has been examined in some studies but remains incompletely characterised for long durations, so cold storage is the conservative default for research material.
Degradation proceeds along several parallel routes. Deamidation of asparagine and glutamine residues generates charged variants that shift retention time in chromatographic analysis. Oxidation targets methionine and can be accelerated by trace metals or dissolved oxygen. Non-covalent aggregation produces dimers, oligomers, and larger species that are difficult to reverse. Isomerisation at aspartate residues is slower but measurable under thermal stress. The distribution among these pathways depends on pH, buffer composition, ionic strength, and the presence of excipients such as sugars or surfactants.
Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection near 214 nm is the standard purity method, reported as area percent. Mass spectrometry, usually with electrospray ionisation, confirms identity and reveals covalent modifications. Size-exclusion chromatography quantifies aggregates and fragments. Peptide mapping after enzymatic digestion localises changes to specific sequence regions. Circular dichroism and infrared spectroscopy report on secondary structure, while light scattering tracks particle formation in liquid formulations. No single technique captures every quality attribute.
where a0 is the average intermolecular distance of the molecule that is freezing within the liquid, d is the overall thickness of the liquid film, η is the solution viscosity, R is the particle radius and z is an exponent that can vary from 1 to 5. As expected, vc decreases as particle radius R goes up.
Some bird species undertake shorter migrations, travelling only as far as is required to avoid bad weather or obtain food. Irruptive species such as the boreal finches are one such group and can commonly be found at a location in one year and absent the next. This type of migration is normally associated with food availability. Species may also travel shorter distances over part of their range, with individuals from higher latitudes travelling into the existing range of conspecifics; others undertake partial migrations, where only a fraction of the population, usually females and subdominant males, migrates. Partial migration can form a large percentage of the migration behaviour of birds in some regions; in Australia, surveys found that 44% of non-passerine birds and 32% of passerines were partially migratory. Altitudinal migration is a form of short-distance migration in which birds spend the breeding season at higher altitudes and move to lower ones during suboptimal conditions. It is most often triggered by temperature changes and usually occurs when the normal territories also become inhospitable due to lack of food. Some species may also be nomadic, holding no fixed territory and moving according to weather and food availability. Parrots as a family are overwhelmingly neither migratory nor sedentary but considered to either be dispersive, irruptive, nomadic or undertake small and irregular migrations.
Health professionals learn about the human body from illustrations, models, and demonstrations. Medical and dental students in addition gain practical experience, for example by dissection of cadavers. Human anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry are basic medical sciences, generally taught to medical students in their first year at medical school.

=== Other updates === On April 1, 2013, Valve implemented support for the Steam Workshop, which allows users to upload their custom-made assets onto the Steam community. These assets range from video game models and sound to animation project files. A version of the software for Valve's Source 2 engine, known as Source 2 Filmmaker, was released on May 15, 2020, alongside other development tools for Half-Life: Alyx. In February 2023, Facepunch announced they were producing their own successor to SFM due to compatibility issues with their own game platform, S&box. S&box, like Half-Life: Alyx, runs on the Source 2 engine.
2,3-Dihydro-LSD, or 2,3-DH-LSD, also known as 2,3-dihydrolysergic acid diethylamide, is a psychedelic drug of the lysergamide family related to lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). It is the analogue of LSD in which the 2,3- double bond in the indole ring within the ergoline ring system has been hydrogenated.
== Epidemiology == With the difficulty in diagnosing a TIA due to its nonspecific symptoms of neurologic dysfunction at presentation and a differential diagnosis including many mimics, the exact incidence of the disease is unclear. It was estimated to have an incidence of approximately 200,000 to 500,000 cases per year in the US in the early 2000s according to the American Heart Association. TIA incidence trends similarly to stroke, such that incidence varies with age, gender, and different race/ethnicity populations. Associated risk factors include age greater than or equal to 60, blood pressure greater than or equal to 140 systolic or 90 diastolic, and comorbid diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis, and atrial fibrillation. It is thought that approximately 15 to 30 percent of strokes have a preceding TIA episode associated.

== History == The first Mel's Drive-In was founded in 1947 by Mel Weiss and Harold Dobbs in San Francisco, California. It later expanded to several other locations. After the last of the original restaurants closed in the 1970s, Weiss's son Steven Weiss and partner Donald Wagstaff opened the first of a new generation of Mel's Drive-In restaurants in 1985. A family rift between father and son caused them to part ways and form two chains, with Steven retaining the "Mel's Drive-In" name and Mel calling his restaurants "Original Mels". The elder Weiss then sold his company in 1994. The Original Mels locations are not listed on the official Mel's Drive-In website, and vice versa.
=== LYMErix === The vaccine LYMErix was available from 1998 to 2002. The recombinant vaccine against Lyme disease, based on the outer surface protein A (OspA) of B. burgdorferi with aluminum hydroxide as adjuvant, was developed by SmithKline Beecham. In clinical trials involving more than 10,000 people, the vaccine was found to confer protective immunity to Lyme disease in 76% of adults after three doses with only mild or moderate and transient adverse effects. On 21 December 1998, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved LYMErix based on these trials for persons of ages 15 through 70. Following approval of the vaccine, its entry into clinical practice was slow for a variety of reasons, including its cost, which was often not reimbursed by insurance companies. Subsequently, hundreds of vaccine recipients reported they had developed autoimmune and other side effects. Supported by some advocacy groups, a number of class-action lawsuits were filed against GlaxoSmithKline, alleging the vaccine had caused these health problems. These claims were investigated by the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control, which found no connection between the vaccine and the autoimmune complaints. Despite the lack of evidence that the complaints were caused by the vaccine, sales plummeted and LYMErix was withdrawn from the U.S. market by GlaxoSmithKline in February 2002, in the setting of negative media coverage and fears of vaccine side effects.

Remifentanil, marketed under the brand name Ultiva is a potent, short-acting synthetic opioid analgesic drug. It is given to patients during surgery to relieve pain and as an adjunct to an anesthetic. Remifentanil is used for sedation as well as combined with other medications for use in general anesthesia. The use of remifentanil has made possible the use of high-dose opioid and low-dose hypnotic anesthesia, due to synergism between remifentanil and various hypnotic drugs and volatile anesthetics.
SDMA, also known as 3,4-methylenethiooxy-N-methylamphetamine (3T-MDMA) or as MY100, is a putative entactogen of the phenethylamine and amphetamine families related to 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine (MDMA). It is the analogue of MDMA in which the oxygen atom at the 3 position within the 3,4-methylenedioxy substitution has been replaced with a sulfur atom to give a 1,3-benzoxathiole rather than 1,3-benzodioxole ring system. The drug is also the N-methyl derivative of 3,4-methylenethiooxyamphetamine (SDA; 3T-MDA). SDMA is of interest for potential therapeutic use.

Ice formation concentrates solutes and can mechanically stress the peptide or damage the delivery device. Thawing afterwards may leave aggregates that are not visible to the eye. Refrigeration keeps the solution above its freezing point while slowing chemical degradation.
